Mary Galloway is a member of the Cowichan Tribes of the Coast Salish Peoples. Her love for storytelling was first honed when she attended college in a 2 year full-time acting program, where she was also introduced to writing. Upon graduation, Mary began to write, launching Bright Shadow Productions Inc (BSP). BSP's first short, ARIEL UNRAVELING, was awarded BravoFACT and CreativeBC funding. In 2017 Ms. Galloway made her directorial debut with UNINTENTIONAL MOTHER - the only Canadian filmmaker to be awarded the KSF's Artist of Choice Award. In 2016 WIFTV honoured Mary with the Newcomer Award, the WFF presented her with the Talent To Watch Award, and in 2017 she was named a TIFF Rising Star.
As an actor, Mary booked her first series regular role in 2018 on the APTN show "Wynter". Other bookings include lead roles in the imagineNATIVE pitch winning web series "Color of Scar Tissue" and the Telefilm funded feature "RUTHLESS SOULS". In 2019 she was recognized by The Hollywood Reporter as one of fifteen "Breakouts Making an Impact on Hollywood". In early 2019 she graduated from her Story Editing Training Program with the Harold Greenberg Fund in association with ImagineNATIVE. She is currently working as a writer and story coordinator on the hit CBC television show Burden of Truth. Her most recent writing and directing endeavour is "SPIRIT GLITCH", the Storyhive awarded script as part of their Indigenous Storyteller Edition.
